The project focused on strengthening drought monitoring and anticipatory action in Nepal by developing and applying data-driven tools to provide historical, real-time, and forecast-based drought insights. Using the Standardized Precipitation Index (SPI), the initiative assessed the spatial and temporal patterns of drought and developed mechanisms to support timely decision-making and anticipatory action, particularly in the agriculture sector. The project also aimed to improve access to drought information for government agencies, humanitarian organizations, and policymakers and establish a technical working group to support coordinated drought preparedness and response.
