The Institute of Himalayan Risk Reduction (IHRR), in collaboration with Campaign Nepal and CARE Nepal, has officially launched a 7-day Psychosocial First Aid (PFA) Training in Gaur, Rautahat under the Sajag Samaj project. This initiative is part of a broader effort to empower women’s voices and leadership in Anticipatory Action, with a strong emphasis on mental health, protection, and community wellbeing.

This training is grounded in the Protection Cluster's comprehensive 7-day training manual and is specifically tailored to address the psychosocial needs of vulnerable women and community members. Day 1 brought together 20 dedicated participants from Rajdevi Municipality and Durga Bhagwati Rural Municipality, marking the beginning of a transformative journey in strengthening psychosocial support systems at the local level.

The inaugural day set a vibrant tone as facilitators introduced the training’s objectives, background, and relevance in disaster-prone regions. Participants engaged in icebreaker games, shared their expectations, and co-developed ground rules for an inclusive and safe learning space. Discussions explored the concept of "psychosocial wellbeing," identifying existing challenges within their communities and drawing links to broader regional vulnerabilities.

Laughter, reflection, and curiosity defined Day 1 as participants connected deeply with the topic and with each other. The training promises a week of learning, unlearning, and building practical tools to support mental health and psychosocial resilience in their communities.

Stay tuned as we continue this journey of healing, learning, and empowerment.
